    Question
Does anyone know anything about the quality of the organization FLACSO in Latin America? I am looking for education, internship, research, and/or work opportunities in Ecuador. I'd like to live there for a year and would like to do something worthwhile while there. My broad interests are Anthropology, Sociology, Culture Studies and Dance.

    summer reading
i suppose i should introduce myself before i launch into the reason for my post. i'm a college grad, with a ba in anthropology and a minor in film studies from the university of houston. i've been out of school for 1.5 years now, farting around, trying to figure out what to do next. i always knew that graduate school was the next step, but never where to go or what to study once i got there. well, i finally decided: i want to study the role of mythology in culture, especially in modern western cultures. i've been inching through joseph campbell and james frazier and i would like to know:

does anyone have any suggestions for summer reading on the topic? i'd like some more anthro. books, but i'm also wanting to take a holistic approach to the topic. anything is welcome. :)

    Ethnicity
Does anyone have any (anthropological) thoughts on ethnicity? Ethnicity as we think of it today is a rather new phenomenon, I've read some articles about it, but I'm interested in more comments/discussion. Why has ethnicity become so important in certain political discussions, and, more important, in wars?

    Yay, first post... :)
Well, someone has to start writing...

I am Kat, and I'm currently studying for a bachelor in social anthropology in Norway. I was wondering, does any of you study(or has studied) social anthropology too, or are you studying (did you study) other forms of antrhopology?
